Robert Kirkman is known the world over as a renowned comic book writer and producer of television shows, but little is known about his connection to the world of theater.

Born in November 1978 in Richmond, Kentucky, Robert Kirkman moved around the country before settling down in Washington State where he first began writing comic books. After self-publishing a series of titles that included "Battle Pope" and "Invincible," he was approached by Image Comics to create a new title. That title turned out to be "The Walking Dead," one of the most popular comics of all time which has been adapted into a hit television show of the same name.

While it may seem like Kirkman's work is more suited for film and television, he actually has a deep connection to theater. In high school, he was heavily involved in the drama club and even attended a summer acting program at Western Washington University. He credits this experience with helping him develop his storytelling skills and giving him an appreciation for the power of live performance.

In fact, Kirkman has expressed interest in adapting "The Walking Dead" for the stage. In an interview with Variety in 2016, he said, "There have been some discussions about doing ‘Walking Dead’ on stage in a very exciting way. Knowing that there are many productions of ‘Evil Dead’ on stage with varying degrees of success."

Kirkman's interest in theater isn't limited to just adapting existing works, though. He also created a play called "The Blamed" that premiered at the Ochre House Theater in Dallas, Texas in 2013. The play was described as "a dark journey through the mind of a man dealing with the aftermath of a tragic event," and received positive reviews from critics.

In addition to his interest in theater, Kirkman also has ties to the comic book industry's connection to the medium. For example, Dark Horse Comics has released several limited series adapting screenplays for unproduced films, including "Alien 3," "Ghost," and "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis." Kirkman's interest in theater could lead him to collaborating with more professionals across the industry.

It's clear that Kirkman's interest in theater has had a profound impact on his storytelling abilities. His love for live performance and the power of a well-executed play has been evident throughout his career. As he continues to expand his creative output, it will be interesting to see if he pursues more opportunities in the world of theater and what new creations he brings to the stage.
