Paul Robeson was a legendary performer who was known for his contributions to classical opera. He was born on April 9, 1898, in Princeton, New Jersey. From an early age, Robeson showed his musical and performing abilities. As he grew up, he became one of the most renowned African-American performers in history.

Robeson's love for music and drama led him to perform in various productions during his high school days. Later, he earned a scholarship to Rutgers University, where he played football and sang in the Glee Club. After graduation, he pursued his passion for theater by furthering his education at Columbia University. In 1924, he made his stage debut in "Taboo," which opened in London, England.
