Bleier was actually bitten by the acting bug in college when he pursued a degree in education and drama at the University of Notre Dame. He even went on to perform in several productions, including "The Great White Hope" and "Kiss Me, Kate".
Despite his success on the field, Bleier never forgot his love for theater. In fact, he continued to act throughout his football career, appearing in productions such as "Damn Yankees" and "No Sex Please, We're British".
But it wasn't until after his retirement from football that Bleier really dove back into theater. In 1980, he landed a lead role in the off-Broadway production of "The Boys in Autumn". The play, which starred Bleier and former Chicago Bears player Mike Adamle, centered around two aging football players who reminisce about their past glories while living in a retirement home.
Since then, Bleier has continued to take on roles in both theater and film. In 1998, he played himself in the movie "Outside Providence", and in 2013, he appeared in the independent film "The Last Keepers".
Bleier's passion for acting may come as a surprise to some, but it only adds to his already impressive resume. From football star to actor, Bleier proves that he is truly a man of many talents.
