Sally Field has had a long and varied career in Hollywood, spanning over six decades. While many may know her for her dramatic roles, she also has a strong background in comedy.

Field began her acting career in 1965 with a supporting role in the sitcom "Gidget." She went on to star in the comedy-drama series "The Flying Nun," which ran from 1967-1970. Field played Sister Bertrille, a novice nun who could fly due to her small stature and large winged hat.

In the 1980s, Field gained critical acclaim for her comedic performances in films such as "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977), "The End" (1978), and "Nine to Five" (1980). In "Nine to Five," Field starred alongside Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin as a working woman who takes revenge on their sexist boss. The film was a huge hit, grossing over $100 million at the box office and becoming a cultural phenomenon.

In 1994, Field starred in the romantic-comedy "Mrs. Doubtfire," alongside Robin Williams. The film tells the story of a divorced father who disguises himself as a Scottish nanny to spend time with his children. Field's performance as Miranda Hillard, the estranged wife of Williams' character, was praised for its balancing act of humor and heart.

More recently, Field has continued to explore her comedic side in projects like the television series "Brothers & Sisters" and films like "Hello, My Name Is Doris" (2015) and "Dispatches from Elsewhere" (2020).

Despite her success in drama, Field has never shied away from comedy. She has proven time and time again that she is just as adept at making audiences laugh as she is at moving them to tears. Whether playing a flying nun or a spunky working woman, Sally Field has left an indelible mark on the world of comedy.
