Majumder began his career as a stand-up comic in the early 1990s, drawing inspiration from his upbringing in rural Newfoundland. He quickly gained a following, performing at various comedy clubs and festivals throughout Canada and the United States. In 2003, he received a Gemini Award nomination for his work in The Eleventh Hour, a CBC Television comedy special and also received a Canadian Comedy Award for his writing work on the show. Additionally, he started making appearances on popular American television series, including NBC’s The Tonight Show, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and CBS’ The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
As a television host, Majumder demonstrated great talent, wit and endless humor. He became famous for travelling around the globe on CBC's "Shaun Majumder’s World Tour", which won him awards and accolades. He also hosted the hit television show "Just for Laughs" gala in Montreal, and wrote, produced, and starred in the television series “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” and “Majumder Manor.”
Majumder’s comedic style is described as edgy, irreverent and unique blend of observational humor and storytelling. His performances are high energy and often focus on personal anecdotes, racial stereotypes, and cultural differences. As a person of color, he loves to tackle issues surrounding race and ethnicity, while at the same time finding a way to make the audience laugh.
