Susan Lucas, an accomplished director and producer in the world of theater, has made significant contributions to the performing arts industry. Her work spans over three decades and has helped shaped the direction of theater for generations to come.

Lucas began her career in the theater as an actress in her native country, England. After moving to Los Angeles, she gradually transitioned into directing and producing. Her first big project was the launch of the Wilshire Theatre Beverly Hills, which she served as Managing Director from 1988 until 1995. During her tenure there, she produced critically-acclaimed productions featuring some of Hollywood’s biggest stars including Christopher Reeve, Lynn Redgrave, and Peter Fonda, among others.

In addition to her work at the Wilshire, Lucas also co-founded The Grove Shakespeare Festival, which attracted large audiences for nine years. Her productions were known for their innovative staging, diverse casting choices, and a focus on bringing classic works to a contemporary audience.

Throughout her career, Lucas has been committed to cultivating young talent in the industry. She served as a member of the faculty at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, where she taught aspiring actors the importance of storytelling and how to communicate with an audience.

In recent years, Lucas has become heavily involved in the development of cutting-edge immersive theater experiences. She is the co-founder of “Pandemonium Productions,” a company specializing in site-specific and interactive entertainment that blurs the line between performer and audience member.

Lucas’s deep commitment to the arts has also led her to create nonprofits aimed at supporting the next generation of performers. In 1998, she founded the “Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS” charity, which now raises millions of dollars annually to fight HIV/AIDS.
