SV Saar 05, also known as Sportverein Saarbrücken e.V., is one of the oldest and most prominent football clubs in Germany. The club was founded in 1905 and has been playing professional football since 1920. It is based in the city of Saarbrücken, which is located in the state of Saarland.

Over the years, SV Saar 05 has enjoyed both successes and setbacks on the field. In the early years of its existence, the club was a powerhouse in regional football, winning the Southern German championship twice in the 1920s and the Saarland Cup four times in the 1930s. Despite this promising start, SV Saar 05 struggled to maintain its success over the next few decades. It bounced between the Oberliga and the lower divisions multiple times, and it wasn't until the 1990s that the club started to stabilize its position in the regional leagues. In 2001, the team finally made it back to the third tier of German football, where it remains today.

While SV Saar 05 may not be a household name in international football, it has nevertheless made an important contribution to the sport in Germany. Its long history and passionate supporters make it a beloved institution in Saarbrücken and beyond. And who knows?
