The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a staple of NFL football since their inception in 1976. The team has had its fair share of ups and downs over the years, but their recent success has put them back on the map as a legitimate contender in the league.

One factor that has contributed to the Buccaneers' resurgence is obviously their star quarterback, Tom Brady. His arrival in Tampa Bay prior to the 2020 season was met with skepticism by some, given his age and the fact that he had only ever played for the New England Patriots. However, any doubts about his ability to adapt to a new team were quickly dispelled as he led the Bucs to a Super Bowl victory in his very first season with the team.

But Brady alone doesn't explain the team's success. The Buccaneers also have a talented cast of players around him on both sides of the ball. Wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are both Pro Bowlers, while tight end Rob Gronkowski (Brady's former teammate in New England) has proven to still be a weapon in the passing game. On defense, linebacker Devin White and defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh are key contributors.

Head coach Bruce Arians has also been instrumental in turning the team around. He took over in 2019 and guided the team to a winning record in his first year at the helm, even if they narrowly missed out on the playoffs. But it's been his second season that's been truly remarkable, with the Bucs finishing with an 11-5 record in the regular season before going on to win the Super Bowl.

Of course, the Buccaneers have a long history in the league beyond just their recent success. The team's early years were rocky, as expansion teams often are. They didn't make the playoffs for the first eight seasons of their existence, and it wasn't until 1997 that they won their first playoff game. That year, they advanced to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.

The Buccaneers’ fortunes changed in the early 2000s, when they hired head coach Jon Gruden. He had previously been an assistant coach for the team during their 1997 playoff run, but was then coaching the Oakland Raiders. The Bucs made a bold move to trade multiple draft picks and cash to acquire him, and it paid off almost immediately. In his first season as coach, he led the team to a 12-4 record and the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl victory.

Since then, the Bucs have made sporadic playoff appearances but haven't been able to replicate their early-2000s success until now. With Brady leading the way, they look poised to be contenders for years to come. And given the talent on the team and the leadership of Arians, they certainly have a chance to build on their recent Super Bowl success and cement themselves as one of the NFL's premier franchises.
