The Texans have a storied history within the conference, with five regular season championships and four postseason tournament titles. Their success on the court has been matched by their dominance in academic achievement, with multiple players receiving All-Academic awards.
One of the main reasons for the team’s success has been the dedication and leadership of its head coach, Misty Wilson. She has been with the program for over 15 years, coaching her team to numerous victories and awards while also maintaining a focus on the development of each player as a person.
The 2021-22 season is shaping up to be a promising one for the Tarleton State Texans. The team is led by senior guard Kandyn Faurie, who was named to the Preseason All-Lone Star Conference First Team. Faurie is a dynamic scorer who can create opportunities for herself and her teammates, and her competitive spirit makes her a formidable opponent on both ends of the court.
In addition to Faurie, the team boasts a talented roster of players from across the country. Sophomore forward Mackenzie Hailey brings a strong inside presence to complement Faurie’s perimeter game, while freshman guard Deja Burton adds speed and agility to the lineup.
Off the court, the Texans are committed to making an impact in their community as well. They regularly volunteer at local schools and organizations, and they participate in events such as the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
