The Orchestra is a band composed of former members of the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and ELO II. While the group's music might be considered more rock-oriented than classical in nature, there is a clear connection between their sound and some elements of classical music.

ELO was known for blending rock and classical music in a unique way. Founding member Jeff Lynne was heavily influenced by classical composers such as Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, and incorporated strings, horns, and other orchestral instruments into the band's music. With hits like "Livin' Thing" and "Mr. Blue Sky," ELO's sound became synonymous with a fusion of rock and classical elements.

After the breakup of ELO in the mid-1980s, former members Mik Kaminski (violin), Lou Clark (keyboards), and Kelly Groucutt (bass) formed The Orchestra. Initially, they began by performing classic ELO songs on tour, but soon added original material to their setlists as well.

While The Orchestra's music still includes a strong rock element, they do not shy away from classical influences. Songs like "No Rewind" and "Aria" feature lush string arrangements that recall ELO's most symphonic moments.

In addition, The Orchestra has performed with full orchestras on several occasions, including a 2012 show in which they played the entire ELO album "Time" with the Frankfurt Philharmonic Orchestra. This collaboration highlighted the connections between rock and classical music that have always been present in ELO's music.

Overall, while The Orchestra may not be a purely classical act, their music shows how the boundaries between different genres can blur and create something new and exciting. By incorporating classical elements into their rock sound, they honor the legacy of ELO and continue to push forward with fresh and innovative music.
