UIS PrairieStars Tickets

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) PrairieStars is a sports team that has been drawing attention in recent years. While UIS is known for its academic excellence, the PrairieStars are finding their footing on the athletic field.

The PrairieStars participate in NCAA Division II sports, competing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). They offer 14 sports programs that include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

One of the most successful teams in recent years has been the PrairieStars women’s basketball team. In 2019, they had a historic run, making it to the Final Four of the NCAA Division II national tournament. Along the way, the team set records and earned accolades, including GLVC Coach of the Year and All-American honors for senior guard Shelbi Patterson.

The PrairieStars also have a strong softball program, with multiple GLVC titles and NCAA Tournament appearances throughout the years. The team has produced several All-Americans and high-level players that have gone on to play professionally.

Off the field, the PrairieStars maintain an active presence in the community. They frequently volunteer at local schools and events and have established partnerships with organizations such as Special Olympics Illinois and the Girl Scouts.

In addition, the PrairieStars prioritize academic success, with many of their athletes earning GLVC Honor Roll and Academic All-American honors. The team also offers various leadership programs and opportunities for student-athletes to develop skills beyond the playing field.

While the PrairieStars may not have the same level of recognition as larger universities, they continue to make strides and establish themselves as a formidable force in collegiate athletics. With talented coaching staff, dedicated athletes, and a commitment to success both on and off the field, the future looks bright for the UIS PrairieStars.
