Ultra White Collar Boxing York 15.04.2017

Boxing is a sport that has gained popularity worldwide over the years. People are getting into the ring to test their physical strength, mental aptitude and endurance in the face of intense competition. The Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) is one such platform that offers amateurs a chance to participate in boxing matches for charity whilst simultaneously learning new boxing skills.

The UWCB York event which took place on 15th April saw men and women from all walks of life participating in the match for charity. The boxers were divided into pairs and matched based on their level of skill and experience. Each boxer was given an eight-week training programme leading up to the day of the fight.

The UWCB raised money for the Cancer Research UK. The goal was to raise as much money as possible to help contribute towards finding a cure for cancer. In total, the York event raised just under £13,000.

There were several reasons why people decided to participate in this particular event. Some participants wanted to challenge themselves physically while others wanted to learn more about boxing. There were also individuals who wanted to show support for the Cancer Research UK charity. Manisha Patel, who took part in the match said, “I participated because I wanted to do something different whilst helping out a great cause. It gave me an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself”.

The fighting styles varied greatly for the boxers. Although some had attended boxing classes before, very few were actual expert fighters. However, this did not stop them from putting up strong fights and receiving round after round of applause and cheers from the crowd.

The response from the audience was tremendous and everyone seemed to be enjoying the boxing matches. Amidst thunderous ovations from the crowd and shouts of ‘Lets go [insert boxer name here]’, the fighters displayed courage and determination. They performed with a mind-set focused on charity and the cause which every Penny of the event was being raised for.

For those participating, it was an unforgettable experience of having to fight off their personal doubts and fears while contributing towards a worthy cause that will hopefully one day cure cancer.

In conclusion, The UWCB event York saw people getting involved in boxing for a good cause. It provided an opportunity for average individuals to learn new skills in boxing whilst raising funds for a great charity organisation. Events such as these promote sportsmanship and charitable giving and provide a platform for those who would usually never get to experience a life in boxing to participate in the sport and give back.
