Victoria Seals Tickets

Victoria Seals was a professional baseball team based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They were a part of the Golden Baseball League which later merged with North American League, and was eventually disbanded in 2012.

The Golden Baseball League was an independent minor league that was established in 2004, and the Victoria Seals were one of the original founding teams. The league operated as a professional baseball league independent from any Major League Baseball (MLB) affiliation. This meant that the players were not considered to be a part of the MLB system and were not eligible for the MLB draft.

The Victoria Seals played their home games at Royal Athletic Park, which was constructed in 1925 and is now considered to be one of the oldest ballparks in Canada. The stadium was renovated in 2008 to meet professional baseball standards, and had a capacity of 4,000 fans.

Despite being a relatively young team, the Victoria Seals managed to attract some notable players throughout its existence. In 2009, former Major Leaguer Jose Canseco made his debut for the team and played in three games before leaving due to reported disagreements with the manager. Another big name player was pitcher Rolando Viera, who had previously played for the New York Yankees and the Cuban national team.

In addition to hosting professional baseball games, the Victoria Seals also worked to establish themselves as a part of the local community. The team held various events throughout the year, including charity auctions and outreach programs aimed at promoting baseball among youth players.

Unfortunately, like many independent minor league teams, the Victoria Seals struggled financially. Despite their best efforts, the team was unable to secure sufficient funding to sustain their operations, and they ultimately folded after the 2011 season.

Overall, the Victoria Seals were a valuable addition to the Minor League Baseball landscape during their time as a professional team. Though they were only active for a few years, they provided an opportunity for players to compete at a high level outside of the MLB system and brought baseball excitement to the Canadian West Coast.
