Girls on the Run is a national organization that aims to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through running and other physical activities. The program provides girls in grades 3-8 with the tools they need to build self-esteem, make positive decisions, and develop healthy habits that will serve them for a lifetime.
The Girls on the Run 5k is a culminating event that celebrates the girls’ hard work over the course of the season. As a volunteer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that this event runs smoothly and that all participants have an enjoyable experience.
There are several different ways that you can volunteer for the Girls on the Run 5k. Here are just a few examples:
Packet pick-up: Help distribute race packets to runners in the days leading up to the event.
Course marshal: Direct runners on the course and ensure their safety.
Water station: Hand out water to runners at designated stations during the race.
Finish line assistant: Congratulate runners as they cross the finish line and hand out medals and snacks.
