The team has been a member of the U Sports (formerly known as Canadian Interuniversity Sport) since its inception in 1961. Over the years, the University of Manitoba Bisons Women's Basketball team has achieved great success both on and off the court.
On the court, the Bisons have won numerous championships at the regional and national level. The team has earned seven Canada West Championships and two National Championships. Additionally, the team has produced a number of players who have gone on to play professionally, abroad and at home in the Canadian Women’s Basketball League.
Off the court, the team has made a significant impact in promoting women’s basketball in Manitoba and across the country. Several members of the team have received various accolades such as being named Canada West All-Stars, Academic All-Canadians, and receiving National Honours.
The University of Manitoba Bisons Women’s Basketball team is also heavily involved in community outreach programs. They regularly participate in programs focused on health, youth development and promoting a healthy lifestyle through basketball.
Overall, the University of Manitoba Bisons Women’s Basketball team is a cohesive and dedicated group of individuals who continue to make a positive impact both on and off the court.
