Valor Fights 47: Fighting at a Higher Level

Mixed martial arts, or MMA for short, has been one of the fastest growing sports around the world in recent years. With its roots dating back to ancient Greece where pankration - an early form of mixed combat - was practiced, today’s MMA takes many different styles of fighting and blends them seamlessly into one cohesive sport. One that requires athletes to be well-rounded in their skills development, offensively as well as defensive.

That being said, not all MMA events share the same level of prestige and reputation. Since its inception, Valor Fights has stood out as one of the most respected organizations currently operating in the United States. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, Valor Fights is known for hosting some of the most highly anticipated and competitive events in the country.

On November 4th, 2017, the much-anticipated "Valor Fights 47" took place at the Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville. This event showcased some of the finest MMA talent from across America, with six professional and five amateur fights on the card. The fighters themselves hail from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience levels, and include both men and women. What each of them shares in common, however, is a commitment to always push themselves to the absolute limit to achieve greatness in the cage.

The main event of Valor Fights 47 saw the two-time Bellator vet Ahmad Ondash square off against top-ranked Featherweight fighter Solon Staley. Both fighters had fought on previous Valor Fights cards, winning by impressive finishes, and this time was no different. In what would eventually become Fight of the Night, Ondash managed to land several takedowns on his opponent and showed excellent ground control throughout the bout. At the same time, Staley's incredible striking ability allowed him to keep the fight standing for extended periods of time while delivering precise and powerful strikes. Ultimately, it was Staley's control of the striking game that would earn him a unanimous decision victory.

Another highlight moment from the night came in the form of a first-round submission victory by Danielle Taylor over Chelsea Faulder. With four wins under her belt before the event, Faulder appeared to have the upper hand going into the fight, but Taylor's technical skills quickly took hold as she locked in a beautiful guillotine from half guard for the win. This performance earned Taylor much-deserved Fight of the Night honors in addition to putting her on notice with MMA scouts and fans alike.

Overall, Valor Fights 47 was a spectacular showcase of the talent and athleticism present in the world of mixed martial arts. From start to finish, the fighters put everything on the line and left it all in the cage. Each fighter brought their vast experience, combat knowledge, and intense training to bear against their opponents, resulting in a thrilling night of MMA action from some of the best athletes in the sport today. It was an example of how the sport continues to grow and evolve, all while challenging athletes to test themselves physically and mentally at every opportunity.
