The Seattle Storm is a professional basketball team based in Seattle, Washington that plays in the Western Conference of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was established in 2000 and since then has been one of the most successful franchises in the league, winning four WNBA championships, with the most recent being in 2020.

One of the key reasons for the Storm’s success has been their consistently strong performances on both ends of the court. They have had a number of talented players throughout their history who have helped them establish themselves as one of the elite teams in the WNBA. Sue Bird, one of the greatest point guards in women’s basketball history, has been a cornerstone of the Storm since the beginning of her career. Alongside her, the likes of Lauren Jackson, Breanna Stewart, Tanisha Wright, Camille Little, and Alysha Clark have been instrumental to the team’s success in various stages of their history.

The Storm has also been known for their excellence in coaching. Anne Donovan led the team to its first-ever championship in 2004 before Brian Agler took over and added two more titles to their trophy collection in 2010 and 2018 respectively. In 2020, Gary Kloppenburg stepped up as the head coach when Dan Hughes decided to sit out the season due to health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Kloppenburg continued the team’s successful legacy by leading them to another championship win.

Off the court, the Storm has been particularly active in advocating for social justice issues. In the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in May 2020, the team played a significant role in the "Say Her Name" campaign highlighting police killings of Black women such as Breonna Taylor, and organizing a number of actions in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Looking towards the future, the Seattle Storm will likely remain a force to be reckoned with among WNBA teams. Stewarts has established herself as one of the top players in the league and a key figure for the Storm. Many of their younger players also show great promise, suggesting that there is more success to come for this reliable team.
